Bring back the old Democratic Party

by no one in particular

Created on: September 16, 2008

Think of the turbulent days of the 1960's when the Democrats took control of the nation and led us to great things. What happened to the momentum for the common man of the party, why the loss of vigor? It has fallen on lazy days, growing fat on the success, but no longer hungry. Like a boxer out of shape the party has stayed in, but never regained her real glory. I believe the one to bring us back is here, he has the charisma of Kennedy, and I believe a heart to match. We have someone to bring home the title once again.

Down and dirty, to the real nitty gritty, it is time now. Yes we are in the heat of the battle and this is only the third round. Obama easily took the first with a split decision and nearly knocked him down in the second. Ahh, but the third round McCain came out with a wild punch that had Obama rushing to his feet during the count! The fourth round now, usually the round when a skilled and well prepared boxer kicks into gear and paces himself, has arrived. Stunned from the beating in the third round Obama is coming Chicago style and this battle could have made Pay Per View history if this were a prize fight.................It's not, its our future!

This election has polarized this nation like few I can remember since the days of civil unrest and great change of the 60's. Further back than that perhaps, to the Civil War when brother was against brother and a father against their sons. The viewpoints of the people of these United States are so far apart, so contrary that what we each see is vastly different. Not different approaches to the same end, but we now see different ends as we are deeply divided. Divisive politics only fuel the insecurities of everyone and leaves the issues to the side.

Senator Obama desired a neat race, focusing on issues not personalities. While McCain has pummeled the airways with negative ads and biting (pun intended) stump speeches by his new VP choice, Obama continued to keep it neat. In doing so he lost precious time and perhaps ground. His new ads are hard hitting and pointed, right at McCain. This now has become a battle, fire with fire, old school politics vs. Chicago style young ambitious politics. As they say, it is on.

So, how should the fight be predicted? One thing for sure, it will go the distance and each man will come out battered and bruised. Two giants going for blood and glory, with only one claiming victory at the end. Too close to call, perhaps now, but remember things can change.....It is your future so you get to make the call!
