With the new age of technology we live in advancing more and more every day, it's not surprising that the hunt for a job has moved on from sticking a sign in your window that says help wanted to simply posting an ad online. Many employers and possible employees search the Internet daily trying to snag the perfect job, and it no longer looks bad on you if you find your job through an online site such as Yahoo! Jobs or Monster.
There are some set-backs to the online job search, however. Face to face contact is still pretty important in getting a job, regardless of how fancy your resume looks. At some point you will probably need to set up an interview if you want to stand a chance against those people who applied for the position in person. There is also the flip side to this. Not only does the employer not see you, but you don't see them. When you apply you are going on their word that what they've told you about the job is true, when it could all be a lie.
This is a big problem for people who work online. While there are many opportunities for freelance writer's, such as Helium, there are also many sites that are scams and their advertisements end up on online job searches just as often as the legitimate jobs do. So it can be extremely hard to tell which job is a scam and which is not. This for me is the most frustrating part. It's hard to figure out which jobs are real, and which are not. Even if it's not a scam, maybe the job you apply for turns out to be much different in person. The fact that anyone can post whatever they want online makes it a lot easier to get cheated, or at the least end up with something you didn't want in the first place.
When I search for a new job, I have to weed through hundreds of ads that are all the same. They always boast about how much I can make a day working from the comfort of my own home. Some of the less cheesy sounding ones even sound real at first. But they're just scams to get money and send me tons of spam email that I don't want. The only real online jobs are the ones that offer an honest pay for real work. There are no get rich fast schemes, but so many people still fall for them everyday. This is what we all have to look out for when we're searching for that perfect online job. Whether you're looking to work online or not, it can be easy to fall into the trap of giving money to someone who won't make you a cent.
