Homeopathy is a safe and inexpensive way to promote the body's natural ability to heal. Each homeopathic remedy has specific documented effects upon the mind and body. The homeopathic medicines listed below are indicated for relief of occasional constipation, hard stools, and bowel irregularity.

combination homeopathic medicines can be found online and in most health food stores.

The remedies are listed by their latin name followed by their common name and the author of the official materia medica from which the information on their indicated uses was derived.

Alumina: (Boericke's) (Oxide of Aluminum) Excellent remedy for relief of constipation, For hard, dry, knotty stools and no desire. For constipation of infants. Rectum is sore, dry, inflamed and bleeding.

Bellis Perennis: (Boericke's) (Daisy) For relief of rumbling in bowels and bloating. For relief of soreness of abdominal walls. Relieves foul odor.

Causticum: (Boericke's) (Causticum for Burnt Lime) For relief of stools that are hard, tough, covered with mucus, small-shaped and expelled with much straining. Rectum is sore and burns. For fistulas and large piles.

Collinsonia Canadensis: (Boericke's) (Stone-Root) Especially for pelvic congestion, for relief of most obstinate constipation and protruding hemorrhoids. For alternate constipation and diarrhea and great flatulence. For relief of sensation of sharp sticks in rectum.

Hydrastis Canadensis: (Boericke's) (Golden Seal) A great remedy for weak muscular power, poor digestion and obstinate constipation. For relief of constipation with sinking feeling in stomach and dull headache. For relief of smarting pain in rectum. Relieves hemorrhoids. Relieves gastritis.

Lac Defloratum: (Boericke's) (Skimmed Milk) A specific remedy for relief of constipation with large, hard stools with great straining and painful, lacerating anus.

Natrum Muriaticum: (Boericke's) (Chloride of Sodium) For relief of burning pains and stitching after stool. Relieves contracted, torn, bleeding anus. Relieves cutting pain in abdomen. Relieves irritability. For relief of great weakness and weariness.

Nux Vomica: (Boericke's) (Poison-Nut) A powerful remedy to enhance peristaltic action. Specifically for patients that lead a sedentary life. Especially adapted for digestive disturbances. Relieves constipation with frequent ineffectual urging, incomplete and unsatisfactory stools as if part remained unexpelled. For relief of constant uneasiness in rectum.

Plumbum Metallicum: (Boericke's) (Lead) For relief of constipation of hard, lumpy black stools with urging and spasm of anus. For obstructed evacuation from impacted feces. For relief of pain in rectum and anus drawn up with constriction.

Sepia: (Boericke's) (Inky Juice of Cuttlefish) Powerfully influences the relief of constipation with large hard stools. Relieves bleeding at stool and fullness of rectum. For dark, brown, round balls glued together with mucus. Cannot strain because of anal prolapse.
