Now Accepting a Resume and a Formerly Written Business Plan for the Presidential Position!
I'm starting to recognize that this hullabaloo over the presidential nomination is getting absolutely sloppy and unnecessary. We've been going through this same old media based campaigning process and I'm simply tired of the melodramatic fuss. Why we, as Americans, continue to allow the flip flopping and negative campaigning is beyond me. We're smarter people than that and policies need to change.
The office of the President of the United States is too important of a position to fill to allow this circus to continue. It appears that the election is now media based and that's dangerous because many television addicted Americans tend to believe what the media tells them instead of researching facts on their own.
So I'd like to propose a new election process that should be sent to Congress:
First and fore most, the presidency is a position. Like most career positions, the process should start with the candidates posting their resumes with references. Since the office of President is to run the country, it's a business, so each candidate should provide us their formally written Business Plan, including laws the candidate plans to put in place and financial plans as to where he/she plans to see federal money go. These documents should be available for the public to see, since we are the ones evaluating and electing.
Next, of course, is the interview process, the first being a group interview of all of the potentials, a debate, if you will, where we all can e-mail in questions that we want all candidates to answer.
At this point, thorough background checks should be processed and available for the voting public.
After which, the truth-based campaigning should start. The negative campaigning should be outlawed. Government payoffs should be banned. Campaign advertising should have facts only and they should have a maximum financial cap.
The electoral-college and districting should be discontinued to make the electoral process a bit fairer. Maybe even the political parties should be abolished so only the main election would count and more people would be voting for the person, not the political affiliation.
As our four fathers wanted a democratic country, the electoral process should be truly of, for and by the people in the simplest form. I look forward to the day where we see it as such!
