Are you an author, and always find yourself with a blank paper?
Does writer's block really is getting on your nerve? Well, I'm not
surprise. Even professional writers have to face that some times.
However, I'd like to show you my technique every time I have to
face writer's block. Enjoy!
Step 1) Take it Easy
Every time you are experiencing writers block, you are in a battle. Breath as much as you need, and don't take it too seriously. I'm not kidding. If you take it too seriously, you will have harder time producing words to say.
Step 2) Be In Present
Don't be worrying while your sitting in chair. Don't think of the past, nor future. Be in present. Worrying will definitely leave you without a word to say. It decreases your creativity. Focus your mind on the subject that you are writing. Forget about the others for now. Don't leave your chair, just write.
Step 3) Slow Down Your Brain Wave
Ok, when you are awake and dealing with work, your mind is in the beta state. In order to tap into your creative power you must slow down your brain wave. And that is to put your mind in a theta state. When you do this, you find ideas flying around, and you must pick them up wisely like leaves on the ground.
How do you slow down your brain wave? Meditation. If you don't like the sound of that, then just contemplate. You must first clear your mind before you can write something that make sense.
Step 4) Take a Break
Don't be harsh on yourself, its just a project. Give yourself a break as often as necessary. This will help you become more creative. Leave completely what you have in mind such worries of having nothing to write, and focus on what is important -break. Enjoy your writing.
Step 5) Commit Reckless Writing
Oh boy! This is one of my mentors' favorite. The technique is, do not wait. Professional writers rarely wait for ideas to strike them. Nope, when you are about to write, you are the one who should strike on the ideas. Write before you can even think of words. What you are doing here is exercising, and trusting in your creative mind. Do this for 10 minutes. Pick a headline or subject and start writing whatever comes in your mind. Don't pause, don't stop, just write.
Step 6) Know What Your Purpose
When you are writing something, if you want to get somewhere, you must remember the reason why you are writing it. What does your piece will help others with, then express it. If you don't know, then there will be no intelligent accomplishments. Keep writing!
