Natural ways to get rid of blemishes

worked well for your acne-prone correspondent.

1. Twice a day follow the basic routine of CLEANSE, TONE, SPOT TREAT and MOISTURIZE.
2. DAILY CLEANSE: Do not over-strip the natural oils in your skin. In the morning, wash with water alone if you can, and use a gentle cleanser at night to remove your daytime moisturizer.
3. WEEKLY CLEANSE: Avoid products designed to scrub away dead skin build up, since they can actually cause your acne to spread. Instead, once every week or two use a green clay mask to thoroughly pull the oily build up out of your pores. You can mix a basic green clay powder with water and a few drops of essential oil like tea tree or peppermint, spread it on and let it dry, then gently rehydrate and wipe it away with warm (not hot) water. Grapefruit seed extract is another beneficial additive, since it has antibacterial properties.


4. TONE: Products like witch hazel or Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleansing Pads will help tone your skin and shrink your pores.
5. SPOT TREAT: Do not pick at pimples and blackheads; instead use a reliable herbal spot treatment like Kiss My Face Obsessively Organic.
6. MOISTURIZE: In the AM your moisturizer should contain a physical sun block like titanium oxide or zinc oxide with an SPF of 15 to 30. In the PM use a few drops of jojoba oil mixed in your palms with a little water to prevent your skin from going into oil production overdrive while you sleep. This is also a nice time to add a soothing essential oil like sandalwood.
