Poetry: Praising God

by Words of Art

Created on: September 16, 2008

When all is well and times are good
Gratitude fills my soul
I thank God for his mercy and gifts
And for making me whole

When clouds roll in and lightening strikes
And rain begins to fall
I find myself wondering
If He's really here at all

When finally I manage to life my face
And toward the heavens turn
I praise Him in the midst of this
And a victory is won

For human nature thanks the Lord
When all is going well
But only a heart saturated with grace
Praises inside a living hell

The rain falls on everyone
I'm not singled out
But as I lift my hands in the wind
I know what He's about

He promised He would give me life
And more abundantly
This promise isn't null and void
Even when I can't see

So I will learn to praise Him
In the bad times and the good
He'll work things together for my benefit
Just like He said He would
