First date conversation topics are easy to come by when you are on the outside looking in. Those that are actually on the date suffer through many moments of awkward silence. This is very common. It isn't always easy to come up with the right things to say or to know how to say them, especially when you are caught in the moment and nervous enough as it is.
Because communication is very important in a relationship, it is best to start a first date off on the right foot. Talking to the person that you are dating is necessary if you want to build a bond and connect on a common ground. The best way to do this is to be prepared ahead of time. Think of things that you'd be comfortable talking about and subjects that won't make either of you squirm.

Discuss music. There is a big variety of music to choose from so this subject can be one that many people could talk about for hours. You could converse about your favorite musical style, musicians, songs, videos, and albums.
Discuss entertainment in the form of television shows, cartoons, movies, celebrities, favorite characters, books, and authors. This is a common interest among many people and can reach so many spectrums. With the large variety of subjects under entertainment, you could fill a few dates full of different conversations.
Talk about sports and games. This is a very broad topic and can include teams, sports in general, and athletes. Game talk can include cards, video games, board games, and anything in between. Even women who aren't big fans of sports and video games know enough about these subjects to strike up a conversation.
Hobbies are something that many people have and enjoy. Everyone has a secret indulgence or something that they just love. Talking about favorite pastimes and extracurricular activities can put many people at ease. A lot of people will feel comfortable talking about issues that they are very involved with. This is also a good way to establish common interests and find activities that
