The problem with the claim of religions claiming to be 'the one true faith' is that many people get caught up on the claim itself instead of searching for the truth in history and within themselves. These claims are made without the knowledge necessary to make an intelligent assessment of the basis for their religion. We have the 'Bible' which is supposedly, the basis for our belief system. How many are actually familiar with the bible? Many are ignorant of what is written in those pages including church members.
In the Bible we will come to realize what is true faith and what is religion. Researching the historical and scientific data given in the Bible; we will come to see the reality of what is written. Jesus, who many vow devotion to, clearly puts forth the way. He calls himself the way in the Gospel of John 14:6.."I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me." (American Standard Version) The Messiah has a lot to say on how we are to live. Instead of looking towards religions or denominations; we should read the words of Jesus and decide whether we are to obey or accept his words.
Furthermore, knowing that the church or body of Christ is not composed of a building or an affiliation but of those who accept and obey his words; should take the edge off the contention of who has the 'one true faith'. The reality is that the one true faith is within us and it is demonstrated by our actions. According to the Bible, it is a treasure within our hearts, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Luke 12:34). In that chapter it talks about the kingdom of heaven and it is necessary to read all of it to get the gist of the meaning.
To answer a question of this magnitude an intelligent person has the only avenue of researching the truth which includes the historical and scientific evidence. In this quest a person's faith will grow by the enormous amount of information available in the disciplines of cultural anthropology, archaeology and history. As a result the claim will appear superficial because the 'one true faith' is a spiritual happening inside the soul of every individual and not a material building with a sign on it. In summary, the problem with the claim of religions claiming to be the 'one true faith' is that the only way the claim is valid is by observing the life of the individual. Religion has been defined as a way of life, and not only a way of life but a life lived in 'loving one another.'
