Poetry: Alone

Living Ghost

Pictures of the past that used to be me,
the happy girl surrounded by all her friends,
Now it's just me the lonely girl with the happy smile,
the one who just pretends.

Betrayed over and over by people she thought she could trust,
Hurt and abused she turned inside herself
for she could no longer trust in them or anybody else.

Shattered in a million pieces,
as each person she loves disappears,
Screaming inside she puts on her painted smile
while inside she cries silent tears.

Surrounded by her castle walls
she built around herself to hide,
Now isolated inside a self made prison,
she swallows the pain inside.

Consumed by fear of rejection and self loathing
keeping herself away from the world,
Safe and alone she travels through life unnoticed,
she is a living ghost, a spectator of life,
trapped in her own private hell.

    no compassion.

    Alone

If you ever sipped from the
    chalice of awareness, the penalty
    could be: depression-
living in a small coagulated island

    ALONE

Her form lies printed on the sheet
Her fragrance lingers in the heat
What chance that we again should meet
