Poetry: Full circle

by Robert Cooper

.
Living fast and running wild,
They say it was just my youth;
Traveling around searching for Truth,
Still I was confused;

Vanity raging words that aren't true,
A smile that's not from my heart;
Shining my pride and living a lie,
Still further we're drifting apart;

I tried to love, but I didn't know how,
You can't give a gift you've never received;
Closing my eyes, He took my hand,
Softly He whispered to me;

Now like a "prodigal son" I'm finding my way,
Coming home to stay;
You know I want to be your hands,
I want to see through your eyes,
I want to speak your words with no compromise;
My mind is ready, rearranging,
My heart is open, I feel the change and,
My life is so much better than before.
