If your planning to travel to Korea then there are a few facts that you should be aware of to make it the best vacation it can be and tips on traveling to Korea can provide information that will be very useful to you on your journey.
First of all, before you leave home be sure that you have a valid passport and visa. Visitors that go to Korea come from 99 nations around the world. Most of these nations have special agreements with Korea, with the exception of people without a nationality or those without diplomatic relations .When you enter Korea two documents should be filled out. These are an E/d card and a custom declaration form. If your trip to Korea will be more than 90 days then you should have a visa before you go and you will find that there is a fee for these forms.
When you arrive in Korea you should submit a written baggage declaration to one of their customs officers. There are three channels in place for this which is green, white or red. The green channel is the quickest if you have nothing to declare.
Communication in Korea won't be a problem, everyone has cell phones, even outside the bigger cities. For public phones it would be easier if you had an IC card . This will eliminate the bother of looking for change to make phone calls. Keep in mind that Korea has 16 area code numbers and each number has seven to eight digits.
Government offices are open from 9a.m to 6p.m on weekdays but closed on weekends. All banks are open from 9a.m to 5p.m during the week. If your looking for a convenience store or a supermarket there won't be a problem finding one, no matter where you are in Korea. If your looking for a newspaper in English then Korea offers The Korea Times and The Korea Herald. Korea also offers a very vibrant media as well as broadcast culture.
There was a time getting around Korea was difficult but this has changed over the years in the bigger cities. In most major cities the bus system has been totally revised which will make it fairly easy to get where you want to go. You will find that Seoul offers one of the most well developed subway systems in the world. This will prove to be the best and fastest way to get around.
Korea has many different climates throughout the year. Spring brings an outburst of color and scents from the many flowers that start blooming, especially the cherry blossoms. If your visiting in the summer be prepared for a hot and humid vacation. This is also the rainy season. Autumn is the most spectacular season of all. You will experience cloudless blue skies, mountains that are cascaded in brilliant reds and yellows and is a showcase of natural delight for any visitor.There are many wonderful sights waiting for you to see in this awesome place called Korea.
