Love makes the world go round, or so I've been told, so it stands to reason that love is everywhere. I have read some great ones on Helium, beautiful ones in groups, and mushy ones online though they are not my preference.
What makes a love poem the best? You have love for your other half, love for kids, love for animals, love of life, love for Jesus. There are really too many love poems to pick out only a few.
Edgar Allan Poe is well known for thrillers, the weird and macabre, yet he also wrote several love poems. Annabel Lee was one of his most famous love poems.
A love poem cannot be just words upon a paper, the words must speak to your heart. You must feel the emotion, feel the love. Does it make you cry? Does it make your heart sing? If it does then it could be considered one of the best love poems.
In finding the best love poem you have to consider what you are looking for. Are you looking for a poem about falling in love, being in love, or losing love.
There is a wide selection to choose from and it is no easy task. I could read one and say, "oh yes that is the one," but after reading another I would wonder if it was better than the first. Such confusion that would bring. It would be harder than finding the perfect Valentines Day card at Wal-mart.
A love poem must be descriptive such as the line, "The fire that feeds the soul," or "breathe me life my soul to give." That's being in love, but what about losing love/ I would want something like, "For this heartache I wish I knew what to do, but as of now I'll keep on loving you."
I have always been a huge fan of William Shakespeare's plays, but I would have to say he also wrote some of the best love poems I have ever read. He also wrote some amazing sonnets.
Mark Twain's , To Jenny, was I guess you could say a love poem for a friend, though it was a good-bye poem.
Most beautiful poems are in lyrics of songs. The Ohio Players, Baby Come Back, Still The One, by Orleans, Bad Company's Feel Like Making Love, but I think my favorite love song/poem is Aerosmith's , I Don't Want To Miss a Thing. That right there really shows the love. You can feel each beat of a heart as the words come to life.
You can find love everywhere. Songs, poems, nature, and as Plato said, ' At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet." Plato must have never loved then for he often attacked poetry.
