Poetry: My worth

by Donna Carroll Batton

What Purpose

What purpose is there in my birth
And in my earthly days, what worth

To live my days behind a frown
Complaining life has let me down

To build a wall of lust and greed
Between myself and those in need

To overlook the good men hold
But magnify their faults tenfold

Or will my purpose soley be
To start the hate for World War Three

Oh, no! I can't help think my life
Holds so much more than hate and strife

I feel a sweeter, nobler worth
For being born onto this earth

To spread His love throughout the land
Until He takes me by the hand
