I am hungry
So often I Sense that I am missing something
Craving something
That far surpasses the need for chocolate
But some how the same dreaded nuisance that comes beckoning
On the stage, I stand alone
Nodding in contented agreement
Enlightened for a moment.
then it's gone
Once again Lame in ignorance
Chasing broken sentences
Desiring to state a fact
Missed by hearing ears
Listen, Listen
But it's missed in a fancy "a las"
A stream of nonsense unleashed to
convince the world,
you are more than your audience
But they have nothing to learn,
which they do not already seek

The cavernous, empty vacuum
The huge, echoing back room
"Street children"
Orphaned, hungry alone,
they ravage the garbage
Pillar through trash cans and waste,
Looking for one morsel,
One piece of bread a day
Was all I had
Sometimes, I would break it in half
Sometimes, I could make it toast
My children's bellies

Searching, longing, growing old
Seeking protection
