Chocolate cherry cake is so good. The combination of sweet and sweeter come together to make an absolutly delicious dessert. I once made this treat years ago for my mother's birthday, and she truely love it.
The List:
2 baked 9-inch layers of chocolate cake, from 1 chocolate or devil's food cake mix
1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
2 envelopes dessert topping (Whipped)
1 1/4 cups of cold milk
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
Directions:
Prepare cake layers according to package directions.
In small bowl, combine pudding mix, topping mixes, and milk.
Beat with electric mixer at medium speed until stiff, about 2-3 minutes.
Place one cake layer, flat side down, on serving plate.
With pudding mixture, make a ring about 1/2 inch high and 1 inch wide on top of cake layer.
Place half of cherry pie filling in center of cake.
Place second cake on top, flat side down.
Repeat with pudding mixture and remaining cherries on top of second layer, save enough pudding mixture to cover sides of cake.
Frost sides of cake with pudding mixture.
Refrigerate until serving.
