Moneysaving ideas when you have a new baby

Having a baby is expensive. This article shows you how to make your own diaper wipes as well as how to save on baby food and clothing.

Saving A Bundle On Baby Clothing.

Baby clothing is a huge expense when you consider that these tiny garments will be outgrown in a month or two. There are many things that you can do to dramatically reduce the cost of baby clothes.

One way to save big bucks - from 50 up to 85% - on the cost of baby clothing is to buy them secondhand.

These items are practically new and have often been worn only once or twice. If you're concerned that wearing second hand clothing is not hygienic, then simply wash the clothing in hot water with a gentle detergent, and they will be perfectly germ free.

Garage sales are a great place to pick up some bargains on baby clothing.

Barter - If you have a friend or sister who has a baby that is a bit older than yours, don't be shy about asking her for her baby's clothing in exchange for something else.

Make a list of the items that you want. Join a baby registry if you can. This makes shopping easier for those who want to buy you a gift, and you get what you want.

Baby showers are a wonderful source of clothing for your baby. Ask for clothing starting from 3-6 months so that your baby can get more wear out of them.

And if you are planning another baby, then pack these gently worn items away for your next bundle of joy and it won't cost you a penny the next time around.

How To Make Your Own Diaper Wipes

Diaper Wipes are so convenient, but oh, so expensive. Here's step-by-step directions on how to make your own.

What You'll Need

1 round plastic container that's about 6 inches high and has a snug fitting lid.
1/4 cup of baby oil
1/4 cup of baby shampoo
1/4 cup of baby bath soap
1-2 cups of water - This amount will depend on how absorbent the paper towels are.

Directions.

1. Cut the paper towels in 1/2 using a hacksaw. You can use 1/2 now and save the other half for later. Don't be tempted to make 2 diaper wipes now because the second one will probably dry up before you can use it.

2. Combine the oil, shampoo and liquid baby soap with 1 cup of water and pour it into the container.

3. Place the paper towel cut side down into this mixture. Leave it for about 5 minutes so that it can absorb the liquid.

4. Now turn it around so that the cut side is facing upward and let the other side of the paper towel roll absorb the liquid. Leave for about 5 minutes.

5. If there are still any dry spots in the paper towel, then add 1/4 cup of water
