try to find a part that would be unavailable otherwise. Remember that searching the web sometimes requires a little creativity as different vendors may refer to a part with a different name than you are used to calling it. For example, if you search for a "generator" and have no luck, then try the word "alternator". While the two parts are not exactly the same, most non-automotive people would associate one with the other. By being creative with your search, you'll yield greater results.
If all else fails and, after you've searched the internet and still haven't had any luck, try looking online for organizations or clubs that relate to your vehicle. Most classic cars have a corresponding "car club" that features all kinds of useful information to members about the type of vehicle with which they have a vested interest. These clubs will often hold annual, semi-annual and even monthly swap meets. Sometimes, members of these clubs will have large quantities of New Old Stock with them and you might just stumble upon the part you are looking for. These clubs are also a great resource for gathering information about your vehicle.
Even though it might seem impossible to find the parts you need for a vintage Ford or a classic Chevy, always remember to try and use the internet as a tool to find what you need. With the world market now at your fingertips, you're bound to find whatever it is you are looking for.
