NFL commentary: Brett Favre comes out of retirement

In the offseason of 2008, an emotional Brett Favre retired from The Green Bay Packers, only to rienstated into The NFL into the late off-season. The Green Bay Packers informed Favre that "The train has left the station" and did not accept Brett Favre back into the organization. Despite offering Brett Favre $20,000,000 to stay retired, Favre turned down the offer, and asked to be traded. The Packers traded Favre to The New York Jets, and Aaron Rodgers inherited the team. When Favre arrived in New York, a record number of Favre jerseys were sold online, and Brett officially became a New York Jets when he lead his new team to a week 1 victory over The Miami Dolphins.

The Favre departure was very bitter. Brett Favre was interviewed by The Fox News Network as saying that Ted Thompson did not want him. The news spread like wildfire over the airwaves, as Packer fans demanded Favres' presence at the pratices protesting "We want Favre! We want Favre!". Their demands were not met. Rodgers continued to practice as Favre was entertained by New York and Tampa Bay. Favre requested to play in a cold weather city and to the surprise of the NFL world was traded to New York. It was reported by ESPN that Favre was headed to Tampa, but 24 hours later the trade to the Jets was confirmed!

It didn't take Favre long to adjust to his new team. In Favres' first appearance in the preseason, he lead an impressive drive that concluded with a 10 yard touchdown pass to the tight end. Once the regular season started, Favre was sharp! He connected for a 65 yard pass for a touchdown. A collective roar emerged as Jets fans traveled to see Brett Favre's debut. The game was respectfully close as the oppossing quarterback was none other than Chad Pennington, the former Jet! Pennington was equally sharp and matched Brett in touchdown passes. Brett Favre was showing his forte' by going for it on 4th and 13, and found a reciever in the endzone for a touchdown! In the final minutes, Pennington threw an interception in the back of the endzone, and Favre won his debut in a New York Jets uniform!

It's a little disappointing to see Favre in a different uniform, but all thing must come to an end. Brett Favre's tenure with Green Bay will lead him into the Hall of Fame, my guess is that he will retire, someday, as a Packer. Through trail and tribulation he bled green and gold all the way to the Lombardi Trophy. It's unfortunate that Farve and The Packers couldn't work it out, the two parties seemed unsepartable, but truth be told both parties were responsible for the departure. Brett Favre, in my opinion, should've leveled with his former team that he was getting old and wanted to report to camp a little late. I'm sure that Favre established a high level of status for the Packers to consider his request. On the other hand The Packers should've sensed that Favre was not ready to retire and that they could've recommended that Favre take a "extend vacation" and maybe report back to camp in late July. One thing is for certain, the way Favre looked against Miami, a little R and R wouldn't of hurt.
