US elections 2008: Are candidates missing an opportunity to connect with voters on open government issues?

Title endorsed in part by:

The United States elections of 2008 will probably be seen in history as missed opportunity for both parties. Neither side has explained how they will attack the economy and make changes that are necessary for the change we so desperately need. Most Americans do not understand the thinking of these candidates or their policies on economics one on one. If the candidates would only involve the constituents on the best route to take to make the economy stronger they might get ideas on how to best address these problems on many government issues.

You can determine a good qualified candidate by the way they listen to the general public. The presidential candidates that are running either seem to think the average American can not comprehend their ideals or that the American people realize that the candidates are just talking a good game. The lack of connecting with the American people on issues of importance could have a great impact on the out come of the candidates success.

I fail to see how reducing the American people's taxes would jump start the economy. The money no matter how it is spent still goes back to the government. Cutting taxes will only affect the American people by having to shift their taxes to other mis-managed departments in the capital. Other government organizations have put us in this position by over spending. Housing, insurance and a over sized government have contributed to the overspending money pit.

Corporations have to deal with high taxes, insurance and a operating budget in order to make a profit. This takes away from the employee earnings and makes the large corporations look to other countries to get away from all the high prices of what it takes to run a company and keep people working. It is a simple fact of fair trade that the government has backed it's most promising industry into a corner of despair and disrepair. Professions such as medical and pharmaceutical along with all the congressional lobbyist have killed our economy by raising prices so high that no one person can afford to get sick or make a decision on what is best to stimulate the economy.

The work force of America is alert this election and the people notice the candidates that reach across the aisle to pass bills and legislature and they also notice those that are only worried about themselves and their party. It will be a lethal mistake for either candidate not to connect with any voter. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out the issues and filter through
