In my dreams
the war has passed,
the soldiers fight no more.
Many dark nights
I have dreamed this dream
as I lay so still,
so alone,
waiting for my soldier
to find his way back home.
Today though,
the softest rays
of gentle light
awaken me
to the dawn
of a brand new morn.
Not yet ready
to relinquish the night,
I remain in sweet slumber
in hopes the dream will last.
But then,
Arms of love,
The color of windswept
dessert sand
wrap me in familiar warmth,
rivaling the rays of the
now risen sun.
I long to remain forever
In his everlasting embrace.
