The 10 funniest movie scenes ever

by Casey Chiles

Created on: September 12, 2008

Sometimes people just need to laugh. We've all been there. One constant for this generation is the ability to slide a DVD of one of our favorite movies in; sit back, relax and forget about what ails us for two hours. Here is my list of the top 10 funniest movie scenes ever, in my humble opinion:

10) Old School (2003) - Will Ferrell plays a character affectionately known as Frank the Tank. The funniest scene is when Frank sings at his friend Blue's funeral. Off key and passionately, he belts out 'Dust In The Wind' while surrounded by a somber crowd. Will Ferrell's ability to be silly while maintaining a serious facade is the key to the humor there.

9) Team America: World Police (2004) - Matt Stone and Trey Parker have never made a movie that wasn't racy in one form or another. Team America is no exception to that rule. The fact that they even thought to have a puppet sex scene, shows their sickness. However, that scene is one of the funniest of all time.

8) Office Space (1999) - This movie hits on so many issues that people can relate to. Let's be honest. Most people have had an 'Office Space Moment' at one time or another. The funniest scene in the whole movie has Michael Bolton (David Herman), a nerdy computer programmer blasting gangsta rap on his way in to work. When an African American man pulls up near him, he quickly turns down the music and his anxiety is obvious. As soon as the man is out of hearing range, he turns the volume up once again and starts singing the off color lyrics.

7) Dumb & Dumber (1994) - Jim Carrey has shown his comedic genius again and again. When Dumb & Dumber was originally released, it became an instant classic. The back and forth between Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) makes this movie. One scene in particular is their conversation where each tells the other how they got fired. You really begin to appreciate Jim Carrey's sense of timing.

6) The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) - Pain can certainly provide entertainment value. The first time I heard about this movie, someone told me about the scene where Andy (Steve Carell) gets his chest waxed. It proved to be the funniest scene in the movie for several reasons. Number one: It was real. Steve Carell truly got waxed. The reactions of the other actors while they try to get through their lines are priceless. Number two: Who would have thought to shout Kelly Clarkson as an expletive?

5) National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) - It is hard to pin down a single moment or scene in
