is a valuable skill to have in general, but for good studying, it is an essential. If you get yourself into a regular routine which allots specific time for studying, this will go a long way in developing a strong method in successful retention of information.
While theoretically there is nothing "wrong" with a varied schedule, this leaves open a lot of room for procrastination which eventually can lead to cramming. If you allot time for study on a regular basis, this alleviates the last minute crunch and frees up more time to do simple review and maybe catch a little down time in the process.
*Organization vs. Pandemonium
Possessing solid organization skills go a long way towards effective study. If you have all your due dates, notes, assignments and readings in order you can systematically complete them in a timely fashion.
Consequently if your study materials are scattered all over the place you end up wasting more time trying to put things together which could have been time better spent actually studying. By keeping your organizational skills in check you may increase your ability to study effectively.
Poor study habits can result in your not being able to retain information you need to remember in order to do well on exams and assignments. Ultimately without establishing and practicing strong study habits, your grades will eventually be impacted because the less you successfully study, the less information you'll retain over the course of time.
Discovering the best ways to study during your college years will be an individual journey. The techniques described above may or may not work for you in establishing strong study habits, but quiet, no electronic devices, a routine and organization do typically warrant good results if they fall into your preference and style.
