Imagine you are trapped in a crazy mansion with tons of mutated creatures, unique contraptions and lots of obstacles to overcome before any hopes of escaping. Archibald's Adventures takes place in Professor Klumpfus' mansion where his experiments have gone wild. You learn your fate within the first couple of scenes that show just how you stumbled upon this twisted world of mutated monsters and then the adventure is on!
The main character, Archibald, controlled by you, is a smart talking, skate board-riding teen, making his way through the increasingly challenging levels filled with plenty of gadgets, buttons, switches and teleporters to test your puzzle solving skills.
The graphics are good for a game of this type. There are lots of moving parts, and unique creatures running or floating through the level. Deep pools of acid and deadly moving spikes make for plenty of eye candy. The character and creatures are presented in an atmosphere that engages you into the game.
I found the sound effects added to the depth of the game experience, however, the background music tends to be a bit monotonous. The game is good enough that you don't notice the music after playing for a while. I would have liked some voice effects to add to the soundtrack to really transport me to Archibald's world.
This game is engaging as you move Archibald through each level. His high skateboard whirling jumps are exciting and add to the character. The controls are easy to get the hang of right off the bat. Either use your mouse to click on either side of the character to move or use the arrow keys on your keyboard. Personally, I found the arrow keys allow the best optimal control of the character. The in-game tutorial is also a plus. I've never been one to sit and read long drawn out instructions on how to play a game, the tutorial let's you get right to the action!
This game is down right fun, I found myself completely entertained. It's great for players of all ages; offering unique challenges and ongoing action. The creative levels and obstacles keep you wondering what will be coming next! This game is a great way to pass the time! It has an addictive quality that is worth every penny spent on this game. It will keep you entertained for hours!
