Want to make your home feel cozier during this cooler fall season? Try creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in your home with just a few simple ideas. Autumn is definitely by far one of the most colorful and inviting seasons of the year. The colors and decorating ideas are so versatile for the whole season, that it makes it more fun to decorate. Your decorations will last through the holiday seasons. No need to keep changing them out. In no time, your home will feel cozy, warm and relaxing, that you will forget how cool it is outside.

1. Try lighting some warmer scented candles or using scented plug-ins around your home such as pumpkin spice, apple cider, cinnamon, or any baked cookie scent. These smells arouse the body and soul, immediately bring back memories of mom or grandma baking in the kitchen. Potpourri placed in a bowl in these same scents, can create the same effect as well. Placing unlit scented candles in these warmer scents in your bathroom next to the sink will provide a light scent for your guests as well.

2. Create your own wreaths to hang around your home and doors using grapevines or willow branches. Add your choice of fresh or artificial maple leaves in the various autumn colors, miniature decorative gourds, and dried flowers.

3. Group miniature pumpkins or other types of gourds, in various sizes, together as a centerpiece on your kitchen table. Place them in a neutral colored platter, alongside maple leaves, grape leaves, or dried Indian corn. Miniature pumpkins can be purchased inexpensively at your local grocery or farmer's market. Be creative; remember to stay with the fall color scheme (reds, oranges, yellows, & browns) to create that warm affect.

4. Simply changing the hand towels in your bathroom and kitchen to the warmer autumn colors will add to this effect. Placemats and table runners in these colors will definitely change the feel in your dining area.

5. If you have unlit candles for decorative uses around your home, change them out to the fall colors.

If you're on a tight budget and not able to find these items around your home, you can check out your local dollar store for affordable and inexpensive decorations. Be creative and use your imagination and if you still need more ideas, you can purchase home decorating magazines at your local store or if you have internet access, type in "fall decorating ideas" in the search engine toolbar. You will be amazed at the ideas that people have for fall. You might also find ways to add onto their ideas to make them your own. Don't be afraid to experiment. Decorating for any occasion can seem overwhelming for some, but don't feel that way. Once you let your creative side takeover, you'll soon see the possibilities are endless.
