It is time for America to elect a woman President, so say the people of the land with their 2008 primary votes and poll reactions to female politicians, such as Sara Palin. The issue is really not about Democratic Party or Republican Party platforms, as much as it is about what America needs to make the nation whole and credible again. Politics has become a dirty game laden with special interest money and men who have sold their souls to lobbiest groups for the promise of off-shore bank accounts, once they retire.
Enough! Say the people of the United States (that are not so united these days) who clearly are tired of Washington insiders (the beltway elite), consumate politicians full of these own interests and congressional leaders who speak out of both sides of their mouth, while their banks accounts get bigger and bigger and bigger.
So bring on the women:
The mothers who send children to war.
The sisters who cry for fathers they never see because they must work 2 jobs to support their family. The wives who balance the household budget, raise several kids and work 40 hours a week outside the home. The grandmothers whose wisdom is always sought by family, neighbors and friends-because walking this earth through several generations, wars, good times and bad times they have learned how to make balanced and ethical decisions.
Hillary Clinton is not the first woman to run for President of these United States and Sarah Palin is an example of another strong American woman among many who have sought to serve her country as national commanders and governmental leaders.
How many of you have ever been taught the true history of women in politics in America? Who knows the name Sen. Margaret Chase Smith or Pat Schroeder or Ellen McCormack? Did you know that the frist time a woman had her name on an actual ballot for President of the U.S. was in 1964. Were you taught that there have been at least 5 African American women who have had their names placed on the general election ballot for President of the United States. Can you name them? I thought not, but here is the list:
Charlene Mitchell - Communist party in 1968 Margaret Wright - People's Party in 1976 Lenora Fulani - New Alliance Party in 1988/1992 Isabell Masters - Looking Back Party in 1992/1996 Monica Morehead - Workers World Party in 1996/2000
Rep. Shirley Chisholm was the first African American woman to run for the Democratic nomination for President in 1972.
And how many people have heard of Belva Lockwood who ran for President in 1884.
Yes, it is time for a woman President and America is ready. We need the integrity and strength of moral character a woman would bring to the Washington arena and the National scene. Now is the time and women are in the majority so come on gals, lets go for it.
