Is Google the best search engine? Are there better search engines that people are not aware of? Does Google deserve all its traffic or is it living off reputation? According to Nielson/NetRatings in January 2007 half of all web queries went through Google, and this market domination is no fluke.
Creatively and originally Google have made a web page known to all that is simple and easy to use. By entering a query into a single search box effectively you are searching through Google's whole index of blogs, books, products, images, maps, news, universities, videos and websites.
Google have successfully brushed aside competitors such as Yahoo and Live Search, AlltheWeb, AltaVista and Ask.com. In an extensive study into the best search engines PCWord.com revealed that in all their tests Google came out on top. In terms of page loading Google also comes out on top as well. In recent testing the average Google home page would load at 0.7 seconds compared to Live Search which loads averagely in 1 second. When comparing the presentation of search engines Google shows flare and very often Google modernizes the home page to fit in with current events.
One of the most important reasons I believe Google is the best search engine is because of the results it so consistently produces. Google shines with an intelligence that no other search engine possesses and it seems that Google is making a real effort to get to know what the average searcher wants to find in their results. Google's software engineers have brilliantly integrated the powers of their other search options into one. For example if you were to type in daffodil' into Yahoo you would get results related to daffodils. However Google goes one step further and cleverly knows that most searchers typing in daffodil' would actually be looking for an image. So when you type in the word daffodil' in Google an image will instantly come up giving the searcher what they want straight away. This technology has also been further used with Google, for example when you type in tennis clip' in Google a video link comes up immediately. This technology further satisfies searchers and helps them find what they want quickly. Google still continue to integrate their web search, and Google product search is one of the latest things to be combined with it.
So clearly it is evident that Google is the best search engine. They blend quality and simplicity to such a degree that they give a searching experience like no other.
