She's there
In every smile on my face
As she dances in my mind
Her hair free-flowing
Her spirit rising, soaring.
She's there in the day
In the cold springtime sun
amongst the flowers that blossom
And she steals my breath with
A devastating movement of grace.
She's there in the night
She's the furthest star that shines
In the milky midnight sky
As vapid clouds wash over
All the other twinkling lights,
She stands out and shines
With beauty and her pride
She glows and gives light
Where there is none.
I've never been close enough to her
I've never touched her face
I've never held her hand
I've never shared a long embrace
And let her body fall into mine
And let my body fall into hers
I've never lied next to her
And heard her soft breathing
Linger in the air around us
And gently ring in my ears
Like a bluebell in a summer breeze.
And yet, she is there.
As precious seconds slip away
Into the hours that slip into days
She remains in my mind,
Dancing with her free-flowing hair
And her soul leaping and bounding;
Her spirit exalted and elated
Whilst I am lost in a dream of the day
My soul calm and sedated.
As Spring grows into Summer,
Its pastures becoming luscious,
Its trees and flowers blossoming
She will always be there.
And when Autumn becomes Winter,
Tired and weary, slowing down
When the trees lose their leaves
And stand bare in the bitter chill
She will always be there.
