Poetry: Twilight

And the spectrum, suddenly, a paradox
As the light fades and the darkness is held at bay
A suspension in time, where reality flickers
Yet nothing flickers, the world is still

The seconds stretch longer to draw out the moment
Black and white colors fade into the gray
A plane of mist and shadow and silence
A subtle phenomenon, a boding of ill

Yet manifesting, solely, as the essence of nothing
A moment in time where the world takes pause
The angels are sleeping, the wise trees awake
The door of the sky opened briefly into forever

The snowfall holds back, and the fires go out
A tension, a peace, that falls like a web
Where anything is possible, but nothing will happen
A doorway, yet somehow, the connection is severed

Silence the quiet and blend all the shadows
Seal the retreat of the sunrays
And behold; twilight, the dormant season
At the peak of the end of every day
