Movies that will make you cry depend on who you are and what pulls on your heart's strings. Because opinions seem to vary it is hard to say exactly what will work for each individual but there are sometimes movies that reach all people on many levels. For the most part though, we all find it easy to relate to certain movies, even if it is on different levels.

Movies that make your heart smile and remind you of a better day or tell you of a time you can only imagine make you want to cry out in joy. Stories of pain and desperation bring out the tears of your soul as silently your heart breaks for the character. Ideas of a happy ending gone wrong or a stereotypical chick flick leave us creating random endings of what could have been. There are many possibilities when it comes to movies and the tears that they can inflict.

Movies that are designed to make you cry aren't always bad. In fact these types of movies are commonly watched and treasured over the years. They become like precious memories in our heart. It is amazing how a movie can sometimes connect to our soul in just a few short hours.

This is the case with my favorite heart-tugging movies. For those of you looking to have a good cry, I highly recommend the movies listed below.

Legends of The Fall

This is the story of brothers. It is a story of strong will and unhappy endings. It is a love story and a tale of fighting for what you believe in. I enjoyed the movie so much I named my son after the lead character. If you don't cry at some point in this movie, you aren't watching it.

The Notebook

Although I don't normally watch stereotypical chick flick movies, this a heart wrenching story. It is a tale of remembering and forgetting. It is a story of love and adventure throughout the years. This is a great love story to watch with your best friend.

Fried Green Tomatoes

Here in the south, fried green tomatoes are a delicious fall delicacy. It is also the title of an incredible story of friendship and hope. This movie is a home-fried look at life through the eyes of some old fashioned southerners in the good old days. This movie is a refreshing but sad story yet it encourages hope and independence. With those elements, how could you not cry?

Steel Magnolias

This is another southern story of friendship. It is about some ladies in the south and the hardships they face together. It is a story about friendships that stand the test of time. It is one of those movies that connects you with the characters and you begin to feel
