A look at who can wear blue eye shadow

Have you ever watched "The Drew Carey Show"? If you have, you are familiar with Mimi, Drew's troll- collecting co-worker in the form of an enemy who loves to see Drew squirm. Mimi is a heavy-set woman who is above the top in her style of dress and make-up habits. Her trademark is a large amount of blue eye shadow streaked heavily over each eye.

Of course, Mimi is just a character on a television show but what she stands for means much more. Although it is obvious that Mimi looks hideous, she is confident with her looks. She thinks she is beautiful and it shows. Her tastes are poor yet you can't help but like her and overlook the choices she has made in the style and beauty world.

There are many women like Mimi in the world. They don't care what others think about the way they look. They see themselves as beautiful even when they gunk on too much blue. There are lots of people who push the envelope when it comes to makeup.

The color of makeup you wear can depend on several factors. Eye or hair color, skin tone, and the color of clothes you wear are all important when it comes to what colors your makeup should be. Just because a color seems unlikely doesn't mean that there isn't a simpler shade you can't use.

The truth is we can all pull off taboo colors even when we think we can't. You just have to be creative in your way of applying makeup. You must also remember that less is more. You can get attention without drawing dark rings around your eyes.

The key to wearing makeup is to blending it. There are many great shades of blue that can be used that won't leave you looking like a clown. If you choose to wear blue, first test a small amount on your eye and see what it looks like. If you don't like the way it looks, clean your face and start over.

If you can't find a color that matches your skin tone, it's okay. That doesn't mean you can't wear blue. You just have to think outside of the traditional eye shadow compact. You can mix white, gray, and silver with darker shades to tone brighter colors down.

Use the blue shadow to make your eyes sparkle and set off your face. You can layer shadow with the darkest colors on the eyelid. Work the color up towards your brow. You should taper off into lighter colors as you get to the top of your eye.

Use eyeliner and mascara to match shadow to eyes. Pull everything together with an outfit that has similar colors in it. You don't have to wear solid blues from head to toe or overdo it but you can make blue work for you.

We can't all be supermodels. We don't all have blue eyes. We aren't all just like Mimi. Those differences don't mean that we have to steer away from the things that we like. If you like blue, give it a try. It doesn't matter what others think. Dare to be different and dare to be you even if that means wearing colors that you never thought you could.
