Poetry: The seasons of love

by Jon Coe

Created on: September 11, 2008

With winter's blanket covering our ground
fires crackling, hearth of murmured sound
Deer plucking at the forest, near to our home
love's glow, manifests, without walls, these feelings roam

In spring, our fireplaces dwindle, few
sunshine, exonerates our past winter's hue
Rabbits hop with deer majestically in tow
this love that has been growing, maturing, surely so

Summer comes, with heated, raging light
days are longer, sun and moon, mingle with delight
Warm summer's evening, rocking to and fro
love envelopes us and peaks, with a natural flow

Fall creeps around us, tip toeing on crispy leaves
together, we walk hand in hand, pulling down our sleeves
Polo necks and cardigans, wardrobes full of us
a year of love's seasons, without sharp edges, or a fuss
