For the most part, Sen. Barack Obama received strong support from white Americans. But, their support is fleeting day after day. It almost appeared that they're searching for a legitimate reason why NOT to vote Democrat in November.
Sen. John McCain's platform hasn't changed. He maintained that our troops will be Iraq "for the duration". He said this despite Americans getting tired of the occupation. He said this despite the Iraqi government imposing deadlines for withdrawal. McCain revealed his running mate as Alaska's governor, Sarah Palin. People, OK, InTouch and Us magazines printed stories on her five children; one of them being a pregnant (out of wedlock) teenage daughter. The Jamie Lynn Spears wanna-bee are going out of style!
McCain also wanted to further President Bush's policies on corporate, tax breaks, outsourcing jobs and lax immigration laws. He never wanted to meet with Middle East leaders to solve the "Iraqi problem". Bush sent Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice to danger areas such as Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran. She sat with "hostile" dictators for the Administration. Her duties in foreign policy are well documented. Any future alliance came from her incredible efforts.
Obama suffered repeated attacks. People accused him of being a Muslim. WE HAVE MUSLIMS AS AMERICANS. It shouldn't be a slur. His wife got attacked with her "lack of patriotism". Three white racists threatened to kill him. He has gone through more than a candidate should. He has gone through it all because of his color.
Obama picked an experienced, foreign policy statesman. Sen. Joe Biden has a track record. He has an idea of what America is needing. America is needing change from somebody. That somebody has to be a senator from Illinois.
If you're looking at each candidate, McCain stated over and over "I served in Vietnam. I'm a war veteran." Blah, blah, blah... His military service has nothing to do with $3.50 a gallon of gas. His military service isn't bringing businesses into inner cities. What has McCain done for "the little man", instead of outsourcing his job?
Before choosing politics, Obama took his Ivy League degree and assisted lower-middle class folks in Chicago. He used his financial ideas to make those less unfortunate have better lives. He didn't fly airplanes loaded with bombs over Southeast Asia. He helped out his neighbors in need. Is a president supposed to look out for his constituents first? Most of our country are lower-middle class. Our middle-class has gone. Recession crossed all races and ethnic groups.
I'm calling the upcoming Presidential Election as I see it. I'm calling November 8, 2008, "affirmative action" night. Two applicants are qualifying for one job. One applicants has the qualifications sewn up. The other applicant has his peers ready to vote him in. One applicant has "America First" on his mind. The other applicant followed his predecessor who sent our soldiers and our jobs overseas. Obama's road has America going to the unknown. McCain's road has led America to a sand trap. A road less traveled has to be our next journey.
