Combat the flu with innovative prevention

Did you ever think the winter feeling of aches and pains was your body's way of telling you to look after yourself and pamper your senses? Often we go through the seasonal blues and it seems an automatic conclusion that we will suffer our share of colds and flu, though preventative treatment can help ward off the hazards of the winter.

Protect yourself from what appear to be the natural hazards of winter by eating well, and caring about the needs of your body, as the cold weather sets in. Many of nature's needs can be met by simple respect for bodily need and among these, the following help to keep you fighting fit all winter.

*Sleep

*Exercise

*Aromas

* Tastes

*Pampering

Sleep and exercise.

Sleep is needed by the body to make it stronger. A tired body cannot stave off infection and is more prone to air borne viruses. By allowing yourself sufficient sleep, you contribute to the immunity of your body from colds and flu. Daily exercise also keeps the body in trim. Studies show that active people are healthy people and that they are more able to avoid infections.

Aromas.

To take in those wonderful aromas of naturalness that aid sleep, using aromatherapy oils which promote wellbeing and calm sleep increase the chances of night time rest and help an active mind to relax and sleep. Massage with aromatherapy oils can produce wonderful results and enjoyment that lead to the healthy relaxation needed for wellbeing.

Tastes.

Drinks those drinks which encourage healthy response and avoid too much coffee. Herbal infusions and drinks made with mint or ginger give you that feeling of calm that help you to sustain strength. Eat foods that help your immune system such as fresh fruits, vegetables, garlic and spices, since these help you to ward off seasonal bouts of infection by making the body stronger and more resistant to the invasion of flu.

Pampering.

We all need pampering and looking after ourselves ensures that we can go through the winter, enjoying the comforts of a warm fire, good food, and energy. Winter isn't just about flu. It's about feeling the chill of a snowy morning and taking time to enjoy the beauty of a whitened landscape and reaching for that cup of herbal tea instead of your handkerchief.
