I have taked to allot of people that have the cars that can use the E85 ethanol and they all have said that when they use it they don't have the power that they have when they use just gas. With out the power one might not be able to pull a load. Also with a deminished power so does the proformance of a vehicle. Without proformance so goes the safty of being able of meeting highway speeds as fast as one needs to.
Also ethanol is not cost effective. It takes four gallons of gasoline to produse one gallon of ethanol.
It also put out more polution that gasoline does.
The next problem with Ethanol is it takes land to grow the crop that would normaly be used for either grains (Wheat, barley, oats, or rye). They also are using some pasture land to in order to grow the corn. There is not enough land in order to make enough ethanol for the cars.
There is thing that we can do that are much better that ethanol and they are
1) Leave things alone and drill.
2) Use a combination of gas and hydrogen and gas.
3) Use a combination of natural gas and gasoline.
4) Use a combination of the three.
Although natural gas and gasoline are fossile fuels one gets Hydrogen is a gleamed from water.
The three gives the power and proformance that just gas does. In some cases the proformance and power goes up and also does the gas milage.
The problem with that is that when one gets better gas milage the government wants to raise the gas tax or come up with a new kind of tax.
Not trying to get off the subject but the bad part of it is that the people can not afford the cost of the E85 ethanol because it is not cost effective and it is not a good fuel for cars or much of anything else.
With what they do to the ethanol it is not even good to drink any more.
(Ethanol is the same thing as moonshine that has been disstilled a second time.)
The mixture is 85% ethonol and 15% gas. back in the early eighties it was the other way around and the stuff was called Gasahol and we were told not to use it in a car with out a catalytic converter. But I tried it in a '69 Ford LTD. It ran but not as good as it did with just gas. Not only that it was at the time where unleaded was taking the place of leaded. Unleaded was higer priced than leaded. Now they have the E85 and in order for them to get the people to use it is they priced it cheaper and then they tell everyone that it is.
1) Everyone that it pollute less (lie)
2) One gets better gas milage (lie)
3) Also they say that the cars preform better (Lie)
