Poetry: Words

by Susan Overbey

Created on: September 10, 2008   Last Updated: March 19, 2009

I danced with the devil,
Because he fed me a line,
Words upon words,
Mixed with rose colored lies.

Words of deception,
Flowed sweet like wine.
And I drank every word,
Savoring his lies.

Words are just words,
I yearned to believe,
Falling helplessly to my lover's feet.
Losing myself to the mask that he wore.
Losing myself to words,
Nothing more.
