Makeup tips: How to apply foundation

Foundation is available in many different types these days, so depending on what type you're using, will determine how you apply it. You should always start with a clean, moisturized, face no matter what type of foundation you're using.

Cream foundation should be applied with either a makeup sponge, or your fingertips. It needs to be applied evenly, and blended in well so you don't leave any lines, where you may have missed applying the foundation. It looks terrible when you're all made up, and you see a distinct line where your foundation ended. This was more of a problem years ago. Today, I think women are more aware of this and try to make sure their foundation is well blended and applied evenly.

The cream to powder foundation has to be applied with a damp sponge. Depending how damp your sponge is will determine how much makeup you apply. The damper the sponge, the more makeup you will be using. You usually get a nice flawless look with this type of foundation, when it's applied properly. You don't need to apply face powder over your foundation when you use this type of makeup.

There's a fairly new type of foundation out called mousse. I have tried this foundation and I do like it. It feels very light on your skin. You apply it the same way as you apply cream foundation, with either a sponge or your fingertips.

One of the newest types of foundation and makeup is called mineral makeup. This has taken off with a bang in the cosmetics industry.
In order to apply this foundation correctly you need a good makeup brush. You dip the brush into the foundation container, tap it lightly, and apply it with circular motion on your skin. It blends into the skin much better when you apply it this way. At first it will look like it isn't doing anything, but when you're done applying it, you will see you got the desired coverage. I like this makeup because it gives you nice coverage with no obivious lines. You get a nice finished look with this makeup, I feel. Add a little blush and you're all ready for the day. It seems to have good staying power, also.

There's also another type of foundation called pancake makeup. I don't think this is as popular as it was years ago. It's applied in a similar fashion as cream foundation is applied.

Whatever type of foundation you use, make sure you use the right shade for your skintone.
I feel if you go to dark, it makes you look dated. Good foundation and makeup, when properly applied, should make you look as natural as possible. It should'nt make you look like your all made up. Your end result should be a nice flawless complextion.
