There are bound to be a few bad apples in every barrel. The military forces of any nation are no exception. Here in the United States the vast majority of those in our various armed forces are dedicated young men and women who serve our nation extremely well. The few bad examples of actions that cannot be condoned are certainly not typical of the American military. However, much of the American media and far too many average Americans who naively believe the media, have joined the "Blame America First" crowd and are doing everything in their power to obscure the real truth. These politically and ideologically inspired actions are extremely harmful to this nation and must be recognized for what they really are. It is time that we sound-off and tell the enemies of America within our own country that we will not tolerate their anti-American actions.
This really isn't about whether we should or shouldn't have gone into Iraq. Perhaps we shouldn't have. It isn't about the reasons that certain groups think may have motivated the decision to go into Iraq. This IS about the fact that we ARE in Iraq and our fine young men and women in the military are being made scapegoats by those with a political or ideological axe to grind. Those who scream for us to pull out of Iraq immediately are giving no thought to the fact that to do so would result in complete chaos there and erase what good we have done. On the other hand, perhaps I am wrong, and it's possible they HAVE thought about it and decided that pulling out NOW would create the complete chaos that would allow them to say "we told you so, look at the mess over there, we did absolutely no good...." Nothing much surprises me anymore considering the warped political and ideological atmosphere in our country today.
Have you heard the doomsayers and their comparison of Iraq to Vietnam? I think they're right. No, not in the context that they're trying to sell but in the following. The military didn't receive the broad support that they deserved in Vietnam and they aren't in Iraq either. Folks, the military didn't ask to be in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq. They didn't ask to be sent to the areas that were required in WW I or WW ll. The military goes where it is directed and deserves the support and thanks of all good Americans. I was too young to enlist for WW II but was old enough to see the support and pride in what our military was accomplishing. The newspapers and newsreels in the movie theaters enthusiastically supported
