Reflections: The belief that good things happen

Optimism, to its true sense and meaning is what I have learned to hold on to (together with faith in God) when everything seems to be hopeless and not going as I hoped they would.

I have always believed that life is like a wheel. Sometimes you're on top where all your plans are going as you predicted them to be and you feel like you have a magic touch that everything just falls into place. Other times, you're at the bottom where the whole world seems to frown down at you and your plans are not going accordingly.

When something goes wrong in your life that is not necessarily the end of it all. The optimistic in each of us will say that "All these mishaps will pass and good things will befall upon us."

Good or bad luck Misfortunes or success it is all in the mind.

Often people who are desperate in life and all its trials think that ending their life would end all the tribulations not realizing that it might end their personal problems but would start anew burden for the family they will leave behind.

Giving up is not the key to every struggle in life that we face. I have always grown to believe that the one Omniscient Being wouldn't give anybody a problem that they cannot get out of. It is one true test of strength, ability and personality. Every bad thing that transpires in our life has a purpose, whether it is to challenge our faith, teach us a lesson or open our eyes to reality.

A common clich that we always hear is that "When God closes a door, He opens a window" or "At the end of the storm, there always is a rainbow." There might be people who don't necessarily believe in God or has a different faith altogether, but nevertheless fact still remains that there would always be a turn for the good leaf.

Personally, I (just like every single person) have thought once in a while that my situation is hopeless and that it seems like I am suffering from too much misfortunes and hard times. But whenever I think of or see (in the news or in the newspapers) other people who are in situations worst that mine, that's when I realize that I am still lucky that I am still in a much better position and shouldn't be complaining.

It is, perhaps, human nature to complain and feel hopeless as we are not perfect creatures. Nevertheless, reality is hopelessness is all in the mind. The proper mindset would set us free from the grasp of pessimism. Just take a look at nature around us; it's not always raining for there are days when it is sunny and fine. There isn't always famine, for there are days of good harvest and fertility. There might be headlines of mishaps and accidents in the news everyday, but there are also news of victory and new hope. When there is sickness, there is cure. When there is death, there is new life.

Good and bad things like Yin and Yang creates the balance in this world. It is now up to the world's inhabitants to make something better out of them selves by recognizing this balance and by adapting to the reality of life that nothing is perfect and bad and good things go hand in hand and in pairs all the time!
