Poetry: Unconditional love

Beside You a Captive

I cry for your pain,
without comprehension,
I do so in vain,
to ease this tension.

I created this mood,
brought it on him,
Ignorant words were the food,
that fed the sorrow grim.

I want to hold you,
when you feel this way,
Even if what you're going through,
happens every single day.

I don't want to erase the hurt,
or pretend I know how,
I won't even attempt the effort,

to make it better now.

Some things broken, remain pieces,
will never again be one,
Go beyond where love reaches,
and cannot be undone.

I am not your saviour,
or the sun that clears the rain,
I have no answers, no cure,
for what your heart contains.

Your soul is aching,
and i watch, helpless,
Your body shaking,
trying to suppress.

I can't pretend to know,
what it is you need,
Can't replace what is hollow,
the emptiness upon which you feed.

I can only let you exist,
in this dark place you live,
And lie there dismissed,
beside you a captive.

I can only love you,
exactly as you are,
I will always embrace you,
even if it is from afar.

This does not scare me,
I have been here as well,
I do not intimidate easily,
I am not afraid of hell.

A hurting heart continues to beat,
as long as you are still here,
Your life,though incomplete,
is all the more something I endear.

Let me hold you close,
even when you're far away,
Let me know all your sorrows,
without anything to say.

Let me love you broken,
and never see you smile,
Let me see you fallen,
just be yourself for a while.

    Our love is unconditional.
I knew that from the start.
    But, our love was unintentional,
It comes straight from the heart.
