Agreed! There are many factors to this low approval rating. Both ratings are based on performance. Though many disagree with President Bush on his war policies, which is a big factor. Many think that congress has done even worse by not doing anything at all.
Let me explain further, our current congress is majority ruled by the Democrats. The Dems are bent on passing legislation that taxes the average person even more. The SCHIP bill, which was hailed as the life saver to the poor uninsured children. It was going to raise tobacco tax by over 50%. The majority of smoker's are poor to middle class, the exact class of people this bill is supposed to help. Then reports started coming out about the poster family used to create sympathy and support of this bill. This family was middle income, they made over $75,000 a year, lived in a big house, nice cars, yet they chose to not have health insurance, they also chose not to buy car insurance. It was a car accident that hurt them and now they want government health care. You tell me how that is fair? It gets worse, congress refuses to allow us to drill our own oil, and congress refuses to allow oil companies to build new refineries. There has not been a new refinery built for over 30 years. Can you imagine how out dated and run down our current oil refineries are? Yet you wonder why gas prices are still so high.
Everyone intelligent person knows that the President really can not enact laws or rules by simply doing so. Everything originates in the house. So in a way, President Bush's approval rating is a direct result of what congress is doing. Every time President Bush tries to get something done, they stop him. How is he supposed to achieve success in any thing if they will not allow him to do anything? His hands are virtually tied. Plus, our current congress does nothing but try to pass legislation that will hurt our country and infringe on our constitutional rights. For instance, what ever happened to free enterprise in this country? The congress is trying to take over and regulate the tobacco industry by turning them over to the FDA. The FDA can not take care of most of what it has to do, how is it going to regulate tobacco too? Not to mention, tobacco is a LEGAL substance! These types of things really need to quit. Then came the government take over of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Do you realize how much private real estate the government now owns as a result? To me, that is not a good sign.
