Poetry: Contradictions

by Roxanne Tracy

Created on: September 09, 2008

Frankly, it is hardly a token characteristic
to be, uncommon, to be unrealistic.
The events that unfolded, tricked, and nicked
my elaborate invention.
My walls learned long ago, how elusive you can be.
You come and go at will, I had to go to the doc.
he said it's simple, here take this pill.

For sake of sanity and holding steadfast
your elusiveness belongs in my past.
No more musician play, stay, then go away.
No more musician, elusive like snares
Stupid conversations filled with black
filled with useless verbs, nouns,
tricky trampster showing all your wares.

Elusive, no, just a picture you paint.
contradictions, until we all figure you out
cannot empty it, can't carry it, can't
see your everything, only the disguise or
being obtuse.

Sadly, the girl decided, or happily, what the hell is the use?
Elusive, yes, you draw, you strum, you practice your graveyard
sentiment.
It's only the rest of it, it's always just the rest of it.
