He's not hard to spot. He's the confidant guy in AXE body spray commercials. He's the man surrounded by beautiful models in Vodka print ads. He's the man that embodies the ideal masculine look, the very definition of male beauty as envisioned by advertising agencies worldwide- and his look is very achievable.
So what makes a good looking man?
The ordinary guy is likely as lost as a llama in a snowstorm when it comes to personal beauty. Beauty used to be what women did in the bathroom for half and hour each morning, but times are changing, and now men are expected to look their best, too - and it involves a little more than brushing your teeth. The following are are six tips for the ordinary dude who wants to look his best. (And don't worry - none of them involve half-hour bathroom rituals!)
CLEAN SHAVEN
Sometimes there's a hint of manly stubble gracing their jaws, but for the most part, good-looking men in the media are clean shaven. Sorry, but the massive chops, well-groomed moustaches, and scraggly goatees have got to go - unless your chin is needs the definition of a well-groomed beard or you look twelve without facial hair.
Not only are cheeks touchably soft when shaven, but girlfriend's chins worldwide will say 'thanks!' when kissing.
MOISTURIZE
All that shaving can kill the skin and turn it into a wasteland of white flakes. Buy a good aftershave to keep skin smooth and to prevent tiny nicks from razors from becoming infected. Nivea for Men makes an aftershave with chamomile to soothe reddened skin, while AXE's aftershaves are affordable- and the women I know all agree that AXE smells as sexy as the commercials say it does.
AWESOME HAIR
A quick google search turns up a variety of hairstyles that cap the noggins of the world's sexiest men: buzzed close to the skull (like Justin Timberlake - yes, he's still considered attractive!), slightly longer with a touch of gel to give it a tousled look (a la Brad Pitt), or around your ears and touchably soft (like Milo Ventimiglia, or Peter Petrelli, from Heroes). The moral of the story is that sexy hair for men is whatever suits you best.
That being said, hair should also be dandruff free and silky smooth. 'Head and Shoulders' shampoo is an old anti-dandruff standby for a reason - it works. It's not the only solution, though, so if you hate the smell try Neutrogena T/Gel Daily Control Dandruff Shampoo, Selsun Blue, or a shampoo with tea tree oil to see if that fixes the problem. Each has a different medicinal ingredient, so
