Poetry: Separation

When You Are Not With Me

When you are not with me
I fall apart,
Every second
Breaks my heart.

When you are not with me
There's an empty space,
I don't feel part
Of the human race.

When you are not with me
Hours expand,
Wish I could be there
To hold your hand.

When you are not with me
I fade away,
Minutes drag
Into wasted days.

When you're not with me
Silence is my friend,
I wait patiently
For the day to end.

Now you are with me
You walk through the door,
I forget all
That went before.

Now you are with me
Back home at last,
My lonely day
For now in the past.

Now you are with me
My heart beats faster,
Like a puppy reunited
With it's master.

Now you are with me
Anxiety calms,
I feel safe
When I'm back in your arms.

Now you are with me
My spirits are high,
Now we are together
Hours will fly.
