You passed away three months ago
After a long and fruitful life
You took care of your only son
And made things easy for your wife
You spent long days in the coal mine,
Fought for our freedom in the war
And I'll be forever grateful
For the burden that you bore
I wish I were more like you
The world would be a better place
But I shall do the best I can
For your name not to disgrace
I consider myself lucky
There never lived a better man
I hope we meet again someday
And start where we began
Thank you for everything
