Turtle Brownie Dessert

1 can 14oz. Eagle brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped pecans

Place the unopened can of sweetened condensed milk in a large saucepan or small stock pot. Fill the saucepan or stock pot with water until the can of sweetened condensed milk is covered by at least two or three inches. Be sure to keep the can in an upright position. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and maintain a light boil for 3 hours. The can will swell, but this is normal. Pour off water and pick up can with an oven glove. Allow to chill in the refrigerator while you prepare the brownies.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 9-inch cake pan. Melt butter and place in a large mixing bowl. Gradually stir in sugar, eggs, vanilla, cocoa powder, flour, salt and baking powder. Pour batter into prepared cake pan. Bake for 25 minutes or just until a toothpick comes out clean when poked in the center of brownies.

Allow brownies to chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour. When you are ready to serve the dessert, remove brownies and sweetened condensed milk from refrigerator. When you open the can it will look like rich, creamy caramel. Spread the contents over the top of the brownies and sprinkle with pecans.

Note: If you put caramel over brownies while they are still warm, it will still taste delicious, but the caramel will melt into the brownies instead of being more of a frosting.
