Odd Dreams
Would you shirk the finer things
Like traipsing through your odder dreams?
Things that could be worse, it seems
Than bits of incredulity.
Riding pachiderms on stilts
Or carrot swords with turnip hilts
Wet the sun until it wilts
Unbound from incredulity.
What would you prefer instead?
Unremembered dreams in bed?
Or nightmare's scythe aimed at your head?
I'll take my incredulity.
Don't then fret if dreams are odd
Bizarre in how its ghosts will trod
Across your slumber's mind slipshod
Forego your incredulity.
