How to find people in your area to play in your band

If you're looking to find people in the area to play in your band then the best thing to do is to advertise this fact. Get the word out in local newspapers/music magazines etc. and let everyone know exactly what you're looking for. Let them know where it is that you're based, what kind of sound you play, and where band practises will be held. Make this information available to people and provide a contact number/e-mail address in order to allow people to get back to you about it.

If you have friends that play in bands then it may well be worth asking them if they know of anyone that's available. Musicians often know plenty of other musicians and the chances are that they may therefore know of someone that might be suitable. They may not know people, it's worth asking however and you may just find that your lucks in and they know of the perfect person to become the latest member of your band.

This will not apply to all, but if you're in school or college then ask around there. Take a trip to the music department, ask around and see if anyone is available. You may well just find someone with plenty of talent, confidence, and determination. If you're going to be playing gigs then you'll need to recruit people that aren't afraid of playing to an audience, you'll need to find people with bags of confidence, enthusiasm and musical intelligence. The music department is therefore a great place to go, and you may even wish to ask the school/college music teacher if they know of anyone that would potentially be able to fill the vacant position in your band.

You need to be persistent in your quest to find band members, never give up and always keep looking for people. You may not be able to find people instantly but the chances are that if you keep on looking then you'll eventually find the perfect person to fill the position in your band. If you have musically minded friends then it may well be worth asking them to have a go at learning to play the guitar/drums/whatever it is you're requiring in a band mate. If you're friends with the person then it makes it all a lot easier; it's better to play with friends than those that you don't know and you'll feel more confident and comfortable in playing with them. Ideas may flow better with friends and tracks may be of a better build quality as a result.

When looking to find people in your area to play in your band then you just need to look in as many relevant places as possible. List advertisements in local magazines, go to
