of personal character, if the adults on this planet begin to behave as adults and assume responsibility for what is going on in their city, state or nation, then, and only then, will we really have a chance to create the Earth that we could have. Far too many adults are infected with the selfishness of the fat, dumb and happy syndrome. As long as they are personally doing well they could care less about what happens to anyone else. They are apparently content to watch while society unravels before their very eyes.

Religion - Forgiveness is a desirable character trait and is stressed by the Christian Church. The other side of forgiveness is repentance. Repentance means that a penitent spirit leads us to change our behavior. If we continue to do wrong we indicate that we are in fact, not repentant. Doesn't the Church lose credibility when non-repentant officials and members are repeatedly forgiven for the same transgressions? Where is the incentive to do better if we feel we will be continuously forgiven? This mild mannered form of religion may maintain higher levels of Church membership but certainly doesn't do anything to improve behavior. There needs to be much more emphasis on repentance that includes improved behavior and much less on continuous forgiveness for non-repentance. To achieve this, there must be expected consequences for inappropriate behavior. If we truly expect to improve the collective behavior of mankind, at least some of those consequences must be in the here and now and not only at an after death judgment.

Effective education that stresses unselfishness, character development, ethical behavior and personal responsibility must work together with the Church to instill the values that will most benefit society. In the critical areas of unselfish behavior and character building it is extremely important that the teachers teach by example. The Church and the schools must augment and complement each other. To have appropriate individuals of impeccable character and qualification in all positions within both the Church and school system is of paramount importance. Much needs to be done within the legal system, Church, and the educational system and it needs to be done immediately.

Individual and Professional Behavior - Stop for a moment and consider a nation that stresses a belief in God and all that goes with that belief. It is accepted that both the government and society in general are proponents of positive behavior, positive character traits
