Winning the war against terrorism

by Jay Wesand

Created on: September 08, 2008

The methods employed by international terrorists prove that no nation on Earth is safe from the scourge of inhuman behavior. With this knowledge comes the realization that only drastic measures will be effective against such individuals. What must we do to rid ourselves of those whose acts are so at odds with civilized man's goal of universal harmony and peaceful coexistence? What will be effective against individuals, groups, or governments whose behavior can only be described as inhuman? First, any action or policy must be result oriented. We must do what is necessary to obtain the results we desire. Some of what you read here may be difficult to accept. However, we must remember that our goal is to overcome inhuman behavior and that will mean an all out war that we must fight to win.

Specific Action Required:

International Consensus - To be effective, action must be universal and agreed upon and supported by all of the major powers. The United Nations is the logical organization to implement and enforce any required action. The problem is that the United Nations is united in name only. If the U.N. member nations cannot forego selfish nationalistic agendas and petty jealousies and bickering, then perhaps it is, in its present form at least, truly irrelevant to today's problems. Regardless of the current sad state of the U.N., a concerted effort must be made to mend fences and truly support the lofty goals that prompted the founding of the organization. Some member nations are themselves guilty of inhuman acts. It is questionable that they will agree with what must be done. These nations have long been a part of the ongoing problem and if they refuse to change must be ejected from the community of nations and face the consequences. Membership in an organization such as the U.N. is not a right and must not be considered as such. It must be reserved for nations that place civilized and humane behavior above nationalistic interest and whose avowed goals are peace, good will, and an honest spirit of cooperation that will lead to a good life for all the peoples of the Earth.

Education - The role of education in creating an atmosphere where inhuman behavior will eventually wither and die cannot be overstated. Human selfishness and the behavior it creates is the number one source of problems on Earth. Yes, this is a simplistic conclusion but it is also a very valid one. If the educational systems of all nations stress unselfish behavior, moral values and the development
